Rebuilding Strength and Function

What Is Restorative Dentistry and Who Needs It?

Restorative dentistry is the branch of dental care focused on repairing or replacing teeth that have been compromised by decay, fracture, wear, or loss. Treatments range from simple fillings and crowns to more complex solutions like bridges, dentures, and dental implants (permanent tooth replacements). The goal is always the same: return your teeth to full function so you can eat, speak, and smile without limitation. Mountain Home residents dealing with ongoing dental concerns can find comprehensive restorative options designed around their specific needs.

Services We Offer

Restorative Treatments We Offer

Damaged, decayed, or worn teeth make everyday life harder than it needs to be. We offer a full range of restorative options designed to return your comfort, function, and confidence.
A comprehensive treatment plan combining crowns, implants, bridges, and other restorations to rebuild severe dental damage and restore complete oral function.
Walk in with a damaged tooth and leave with a permanent, custom-milled ceramic crown placed in one appointment, with no temporary and no return visit required.
Fill the space left by missing teeth with a fixed restoration that anchors to neighboring teeth or implants, restoring your bite and completing your smile.
Targeted therapy for jaw pain, headaches, and teeth grinding that addresses the root cause of your discomfort and brings lasting relief to your daily routine.
When a tooth needs more than a filling but less than a full crown, custom inlays and onlays provide the ideal balance of strength and natural tooth preservation.

Restore What Matters Most

Benefits of Restorative Dentistry

The decision to pursue restorative dentistry starts with a question: how will this improve my everyday experience? When teeth are damaged, worn, or missing, the effects ripple outward into meals, conversations, and quiet moments of self-awareness. Restoration changes each of those moments for the better.
Chew Comfortably on Both Sides Again
Favoring one side of your mouth puts uneven stress on your teeth and jaw. Restoring damaged or missing teeth brings your bite back into balance so you can eat without compensating or avoiding certain foods.
A cracked, decayed, or worn tooth can send sharp pain through your mouth with every sip of coffee or breath of cold air. Restorative treatment seals and strengthens the tooth, eliminating that persistent discomfort.
Gaps, chips, and discoloration draw your eye every time you look in the mirror. Restoring those teeth gives you a smile that looks whole and feels natural, so you stop focusing on what’s wrong and start showing it off.
A single damaged tooth can trigger a chain reaction: shifting neighbors, bite changes, jawbone loss, and increased decay risk. Restoring it early stops that progression and protects the teeth around it.
Today’s restorative materials are color-matched and shaped to blend seamlessly with your existing smile. Porcelain, ceramic, and zirconia restorations look so natural that no one can tell the difference.
Properly functioning teeth are the first step in healthy digestion. When you can fully chew your food, your body absorbs nutrients more efficiently, supporting your energy, immunity, and overall health.

More Options Than You Realize

Who Benefits Most from Restorative Dentistry?

Restorative dentistry serves a wide range of needs, from a single damaged tooth to a mouth that needs comprehensive rebuilding. Review the scenarios below to see if your situation calls for a restorative approach.

Teeth Damaged by Decay or Injury

Cracked, chipped, or decayed teeth that cause pain or affect your ability to eat are strong candidates for restoration. Fillings, crowns, and other solutions bring those teeth back to full strength and function.

Gaps from Missing Teeth Affecting Your Daily Life

Missing teeth change how you chew, speak, and smile. Restorative options like bridges, dentures, and implants (permanent tooth replacements) close those gaps and bring balance back to your bite.

Old Dental Work That's Failing

Fillings that have cracked, crowns that feel loose, or bridges showing wear may need to be replaced. Updated restorations using modern materials provide a stronger, more natural-looking result.

The Moments That Made Them Act

Simple and Straightforward

The Restorative Dentistry Process

Restorative treatment is more efficient and comfortable than most patients expect. When you understand how each phase works, the process feels manageable and the path to a healthier smile becomes much clearer.
1

Assessment and Treatment Planning

Your dentist examines the affected teeth using digital imaging and a thorough clinical evaluation to determine the extent of damage, decay, or loss. Based on the findings, a customized treatment plan is created that outlines your best options, whether that’s a filling, crown, bridge, or implant. You’ll understand the plan fully before any work begins.
2

Preparation and Digital Design

The damaged or decayed portion of the tooth is carefully removed, preserving as much healthy structure as possible. A digital scan captures the exact dimensions of your tooth, replacing the need for messy traditional impressions. Your restoration is then designed using advanced software to ensure a precise fit that matches the shape and shade of your natural teeth.
3

Placement and Final Adjustments

Your custom restoration, whether milled in-office or crafted by a digital lab, is bonded securely to the prepared tooth. Your dentist checks the fit, adjusts your bite, and polishes the surface until everything feels natural and comfortable. In many cases, including same-day crowns, you leave with a fully restored tooth in a single visit.

Enjoy Every Meal Again

No more wincing through hot coffee or avoiding your favorite foods. Restorative dentistry brings back the everyday comfort you've been missing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Restorative Dentistry FAQs

Restoring damaged or missing teeth involves important decisions, and we want you to feel confident about every step. These are the questions patients ask most often. If yours isn’t listed, we’re happy to walk through it with you.

What counts as restorative dentistry?

Restorative dentistry covers any treatment that repairs or replaces damaged, decayed, or missing teeth. This includes fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, and dental implants (permanent tooth replacements). The goal is always to bring your teeth back to full function, comfort, and appearance.
That depends on the type and extent of damage. A small area of decay might only need a filling, while a severely cracked tooth may require a crown. During your exam, we evaluate every factor and walk you through the options so you can make an informed choice.
Same-day crowns are custom ceramic restorations designed, milled, and placed in a single appointment. A digital scan of your tooth replaces the traditional putty impression, and the crown is fabricated right here in the office using our CEREC milling system. No temporary crown and no second visit needed.
Yes. Modern materials like porcelain, ceramic, and zirconia are shade-matched and shaped to blend with your existing teeth. Whether it’s a filling, crown, or bridge, the restoration is designed to be virtually indistinguishable from the natural teeth around it.
With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, fillings generally last 10 to 15 years and crowns can last 15 years or longer. The lifespan depends on the material used, the location in your mouth, and how well you maintain your overall dental health.
We use local anesthesia to keep you completely comfortable during any procedure, and sedation options are available if you experience anxiety. Most patients feel pressure but no pain. Post-treatment soreness is typically mild and resolves within a day or two.
Often, yes. Old fillings, crowns, and other restorations can be replaced with newer materials and better-fitting designs. However, if the tooth has been repaired multiple times and very little structure remains, alternative solutions like an extraction followed by an implant may be recommended.
Damage tends to spread. A small crack can deepen, decay can reach the nerve, and neighboring teeth may shift into gaps left by missing teeth. Early restoration is simpler, less invasive, and more affordable than waiting until the problem becomes more complex.
In most cases, yes. A tooth that has undergone root canal treatment (saving an infected tooth) becomes more brittle over time. A crown protects and strengthens the remaining structure, preventing fracture and extending the life of the tooth significantly.
Digital scans replace uncomfortable putty impressions with a fast, accurate 3D capture of your teeth. This means better-fitting restorations, faster turnaround, and a more comfortable experience. The technology also integrates directly with our in-office milling and design systems.

I lost part of my tooth over the weekend and was able to get in and be seen on Monday. We made a plan for a follow up appointment to fix the tooth. Extremely happy with this interaction. On my follow-up appointment Dr Gigli repaired my tooth as previously planned. He and his staff are outstanding. The crown procedure was seamless. It is awesome that you can get the whole procedure done in a few hours. Thank you again Dr Gigli!
